Ann Carrington, famous for her Pearly Queen prints, has a new Manhattan-themed work.
Commissioned for the W Hotel, “Manhattan Mettle” doesn’t use any glue or other adhesive of any kind - the background is a giant magnet holding the metal NYC subway tokens, dimes, saws, shipbuilding nails, chains, and so on in place. Tens of thousands of pieces cling to their carefully chosen location simply by magnetic force! Quite amazing, and clever.
